I picked up a copy of this probably about 20 years ago when I first started DJing. At the time, I was interested in dance music, specifically electro, house, and techno, but I found a beater copy of this in the dollar bin somewhere and would try to mix it in with the handful of other records I had in my meager collection, on the terrible belt-drive turntables I received as a Christmas present one year to very mixed results. That being said, this is a pretty decent effort of early hip-hop! It sounds so stripped down and minimal that I sometimes forget there are actual samples and scratches here and there, and not just LL rapping over a drum machine. The world needs more hip hop like this again.
