Binary Star was a hip-hop group out of Pontiac, MI comprised of MCs One Be Lo & Senim Silla (who met while serving time) and producer Damon Keith Robertson. From 1999-2000, they burned bright and hot, releasing two albums of intelligent, mindful rhymes laid over a bed of skillfully-produced backing tracks. For me, their sound is similar to the sort of dark and brooding vibes of acts like Company Flow and Jedi Mind Tricks, but still has what I can only describe as a upbeat & maybe hopeful feeling of acts like Nas and Mobb Deep, if that makes any sense at all. Regardless, great stuff!
