Robert recorded this album after the demise of Soft Machine and just a few months after he was released from the hospital following an accident that left him paralyzed from the waist down. Like the title suggests, it’s apparent that this was a very challenging time for Robert and he perhaps used this record to come to terms with this major change in his life. I find this to be an incredibly sad and strange record, but coming from a thought-provoking and unique artist like Wyatt, what this results in is a very special and one-of-a-kind creative vision. Highly recommended!
