Crank Sturgeon Magnet Opus EMF Transducer

"The Magnet Opus is a magnet wire transducer designed to amplify the untold "secret" sounds inhabiting our electromagnetic environments. These can be sounds emitted by electrical and motorized tools - for example, neon signs, power drills, and photocopiers; as well as seemingly innocuous digital devices such as laptops, smartphones, modems, and cordless telephones.

This is a passive device and consists of a single coil of magnet wire terminated to a 1/4” jack, measuring roughly 4” (10 cm) in length. A hefty dose of silicone and heat shrink protects the interior wire coil. An additional spring tendril is terminated to the top of the device; this allows for touch-interaction in certain electronic environments. While the Magnet Opus does not require batteries, it enjoys having plenty of boost in order to work. Adding a preamp brings the Magnet Opus to life, transforming it into an instant antenna - amplifying the electric fields that occupy our daily worlds."
